2 Lambda Chi Alpha Continuing a Legacy A s a child I would always hear stories from my father, Lyndon Yearick, about his years in college as a Lambda Chi Alpha at Bloomsburg University. From things like his first date party to winning the Greek Olympics senior year, they all made me hope that some day I could be a part of something great like that. After moving in at the University of Alabama I made a visit to the Lambda Chi Alpha house and I knew it was the right fit for me. These past several months have without a doubt been the most rewarding and enjoyable experience of my life and it only makes me more excited for the future. One of the most gratifying parts has been being able to sit down with my father and talk about the house and what it means to be a part of a brotherhood as strong as this. I now understand where his appreciation for hard work and dedication comes from and I hope to apply those values to my daily life. I look forward to being able to shake his hand this spring with the same handshake that my mother and I have spent the past 19 years trying to figure out. Brandon A. Yearick, AF1738 A lpha-Phi Zeta is as strong as ever. We have a house of 104 brothers, with a spring associate class of nine that we look forward to initiating into the brotherhood soon. We have been working hard in the classroom, around campus, and around the community of Tuscaloosa to better not only ourselves but also this town and university we all love. We recently initiated our fall associate class of 32 young men from all around the country. We are very proud to call these men our brothers. Letters of recommendation are already coming in for next year's fall class, and the Chapter looks forward to bringing in another great group of guys. Our most recent semester GPA came in at 2.90. This is down a little from the 3.1 we posted last semester, but the Chapter is already working hard to bring it back up. We have instituted new study halls and incentive programs to get the GPA back where we want it to be. Alpha-Phi Zeta has been working very hard in the philanthropy department. We recently donated over 900 pounds of food for the West Alabama Food Bank in the Beat Auburn Beat Hunger food drive. Our Chapter has also been supporting the Wounded Warrior Project and World Vision. We have been very involved around campus. This year, we have three Student Government Association (SGA) senators, two University fellows, several members of university athletic teams, Greek ambassadors, and all sorts of other leaders for the University. High Pi Roy Gregg, AF881, was also recently honored as the 2014 Greek Advisor of the Year. A big congratulations goes to Ben Leake, AF1700, on his recent election as SGA vice president of finance. Congrats, Brother Leake! The brothers of Alpha-Phi Zeta would also like to thank all the alumni support we had over the previous Homecoming football weekend and the support we get year-round. We would love for you to drop by the house anytime, grab some food, and just spend some time with us whenever you can.
