RANDY MCNEILLY: It All Started With A Kodak 126 Instamatic Randy McNeilly at the recent reception held at the Cleveland Arts Council embraced by two of his works. The "Moments of Light: The Life's Work of Randy McNeilly" will be on exhibit through Monday, April 13th. The Arts Council is located at 111 S. Washington Street in Shelby. Great photography is an art, and Randy McNeilly is an art- ist. He's well-known in his pro- fession as a teacher, technol- ogy pioneer, expert consultant to industry-leading companies and a keynote speaker at gatherings far and wide. Randy is a member of the presigious and exclusive Cameracraftsmen of America. Randy grew up in Casar, NC and lived there until he went away to college. He received his first camera, a Kodak self load- ing Instamatic 126, when he was only ten years old. He was also the first Boy Scout to receive a patch for photography. His pen- chant for detail and obsession of what he is able to capture on film has made Randy a much sought after photographer. He seems to not only capture the essence of the moment, but also the spirit of the event. His photos always seem to speak to you and leave you in awe. If you'd like to bring some of this photographic artist- ry into your own life, you can find Randy at McNeilly Photography located at 1241 Fallston Rd., Shelby. –M. A. Andrews –M. A. Andrews On Saturday, Fallston Elementary School presented their "Top Dog Talent Showcase" in which every student got to show their talents to parents and relatives. The event was held at the Malcolm Brown Auditorium in Shelby and as the first time on stage performers ended their renditions, family and friends approached the stage and gave them flowers! What a feel good moment in a youngsters life! The show was a great way to dis- play student talents and help their self esteem. All proceeds benefited the schools music program. In a time when many programs of this nature are being eliminated because of budget, it was good to see the support that the large crowd of well wishers extended. To each student who performed whether as a single or as a group, it was first time magic that filled the Malcolm Brown Auditorium. Music teacher Susan Fogleman did a magnificent job and displayed her love for all the children. She said: "It was our joy to provide this opportunity for our students. Many countless hours went into the plan- ning. I am so thankful to work with such a caring group of profession- als. I hope this will encourage our students to endeavor for many more opportunities to shine in their future." Each performing student needs to be congratulated for a great show.
