Palmer, Delta Phi '09 Nicole Eggleston '11 C indy Steineger Blair '71 came to the University of Kansas as a sophomore. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, for a year, which gave her an opportunity to get a glimpse of many different majors without committing to one. Once she arrived at KU though, she had her heart set on architecture, a more male-dominated field. Because of that, Cindy sought a place where she could have camaraderie and female social structure. She found all this, and more, at Alpha Delta Pi. After graduating with a degree in architecture, Cindy and her husband, Martin, moved to San Diego where he grew up. They both got jobs in their respective fields and eventually opened Kansas City Barbecue in the harbor district. "We missed having good, authentic KC barbecue, so Martin opened the restaurant 30 years ago, and I worked as an architect by day and there at night." The restaurant is a staple for KU and Chiefs fans, offering viewing parties for all televised games. KC Barbecue was even featured in the 1986 film Top Gun. "It's great to see Kansas fans come through the restaurant. Whether t h e y ' r e t r a v e l i n g through or have relo- cated, it never gets old seeing friendly and sometimes famil- iar faces!" Similarly, Cindy does her best to stay in touch with her Tau sisters, not just from her pledge class, but the surrounding ones as well. During Tau's 100th anniversary, she reconnected with many of her sisters. "It was terrific to see everyone. The best thing was that with all ADPs, regardless of when we last saw each other, you could pick right back up from where you left off as if no time had passed at all. That's the great thing about our chapter and sororities in general; the camaraderie of sisterhood transcends the years and stays with you." Reminiscing at the centennial celebration brought back many memories and with them, the realization of the state of Tau's facility.
