THE TAXI NEWS PAGE 3 ALPHA SIGMA SETS ITS SIGHTS ON A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE O ver the past few months, the Alpha Sigma Chapter has been advancing in multiple areas of fraternity life. As a chapter, we set goals to improve upon our academics and alumni relationships. In order to achieve these goals, we kicked off by revamping our study room with the help of our Alumni Board. Thank you to Dave Jarvas '00 and James Jarvis '05 for leading the study room renovation efforts. The newly renovated study area evoked a new attitude toward academic achievement. We improved our GPA by .12 and recruited the top performing class in the IFC. We realize there is still plenty of room for future improvements to our chapter GPA, but we are confident that we possess the necessary tools for success. In efforts to improve our alumni relations, we began an alumni mentoring program for our executive board members. Not only does this program connect undergraduates with alumni, but it also assists the executive board in better serving the Alpha Sigma Chapter. Additionally, we held our second annual alumni-active brotherhood event in September at the Liquid Edge Cable Park and Lake. Alumni, actives, and associate members spent an incredible afternoon wakeboarding, paddle boarding, and grilling out. This semester we held our first ever executive board retreat where we set goals and scheduled events for the coming months. Our chapter has placed extra emphasis on philanthropy and recruitment. We will be hosting a multitude of events for MS awareness month in March. We also ask that you clear your calendars for the exciting 6294 celebration planned for April 24 and 25. Moving forward, we plan to continue our work toward academic excellence, our efforts toward strengthened alumni relations, and our goals to strengthen the future of Alpha Sigma. Yours in the Bonds, Andrew Potter '16 Chapter President (309) 825-4640 pr.thetaxi@gmail.com Brothers are ready to tackle academic challenges in their new and improved study room.
