It is a proven fact that we all will face the loss of a loved one or close friend one day. The cost for loving someone is the hurt you feel and experience when they are gone. So how can we continue to live a productive and meaningful life when death has not only taken our loved one, but our identity we found in them? We have mentioned that even though our identity has changed, we still have many other meaningful relationships in which can fi nd a reason to invest ourselves. It is when we cultivate these other relationships that our life will grow deeper and purposeful. Faith and hope also play a vital role in our emotional healing. God has promised His comfort to all those who come to Him. There is no doubt that in the midst of our loss, there is a "still small voice" reminding us that our God loves us and wants to give us His peace. It is sad that some people run from God in the midst of the confusion brought about by loss, when He is actually the only one who can speak calmness to their storm of grief. When we face catastrophic loss in our life, our own sense of mortality should urge us to search out the heart of our wise Heavenly Father. Please remember that when we can't trust the hand of God, we can always trust the heart of God. He desires to give us His suffi cient grace to help us through our time of hurt. Marjorie Hewitt Suchocki explained God's healing this way, "The edges of God are tragedy. The depths of God are joy, beauty, resurrection, life. Resurrection answers crucifi xion; life answers death."
