30 www.DesertMessenger.com February 4, 2015 AND "On my death bed, I will hear this song and think of you." AND "Don't ever change." AND "I love you," after only three years of meeting at Silly Al's and dancing a dance or two before go- ing home......separately. And I loved him. After thinking about it for a few days, one night during a slow dance, I stood on my tiptoes and whis- pered in his ear, "I'm going to tell you something that will scare you to death." "Scare me," he said with a big smile on his face which said, "Jane, darlin', you could never do or say anything that would scare me in the slightest." So I LOVE FROM PAGE 18 gathered up all my courage and said right out loud: "I'm just a little bit in love with you," holding up two fi ngers about an inch apart. Then I returned to my table. Thinking back, I don't even know what his reaction was, but when he quickly asked me to dance again, I thought maybe everything was OK. Before he left Quartzsite, I invited him to visit me to see my home, maybe walk in the desert out my front door, and have something to eat. For dessert, I brought out (what else?) two Twinkies on a plate. Dave's huge laugh was well worth the $1.59. WE DELIVER 7 DAYS A WEEK ROCKIN' IN QUARTZSITE MARCH 5TH, 2015 by Linda Ward Proud Neighbors of Quartzsite (PNQ) is planning a spectacular evening to remember to be held at our Quartzsite Elementary School. Along with our annual Rock Auction of artists that include some of our students, we will be having a Talent Show performed by our students as well. The dinner that will be provided will be prepared by our seventh and eighth graders, all of whom hold food handler's permits, for their End of the Year Field Trip. This is an opportunity for our parents and community to enjoy the talent of our students and local artists. Of the past 6 years that we've held the rock auctions, students have participated in 5 of those years. Our students have learned to paint Arizona landscapes as well as having the opportunity to open savings accounts with the proceeds from their rocks. This has taught them the importance of teamwork and responsibility as well as the benefi ts of a job well done. And they have fun doing it! It's a win/win situation for everyone! Dinner will be served from 5:00 to 5:30 and then the fun will begin with the auction of the rocks interspersed with the talent show. The price for the dinner will be $5.00 which will include hot dogs/hamburgers, potato salad/macaroni salad, and a drink. Plan on having as much fun as the students because this is the fi rst time we've held the auction at the Quartzsite Elementary School. Who knows? We may make this an annual event! What better way to encourage our students to participate in the beauty of art, music, and acting. Be a part of our history in the making. Rock Auction March 5
