Now that the biggest of the shows are over, there are still hundreds of vendors around the different swap meet ar- eas that you can visit without all the crush of people that make up the busiest time of the season here. Check out all the vendors and local businesses who are still open and stock up on whatever you need before you decide to go back north for the summer--we will miss you all and be glad to see you come back in the fall!! Coming up in the next few weeks are some great events for your enjoyment, whatever your tastes are. Tyson Wells still has their Arts and Crafts Show going on until Feb. 8, and lots of vendors from the Sell-a-rama are still there too. The 3rd Annual Gold, Treasure and Craft Show presented by Nature's Nug- gets and Miner's Depot is being held again at the Q.I.A. and will run from February 13 to 15 this year. This wonderful show is full of treasures of all kinds, seminars, gold pan- ning lessons, and much more Admission is only $5. with kids 12 and under free. The show will run Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be manufacturers Great turnout for shows Great turnout for shows demonstrations and equipment dealers, and all kinds of vendors so be sure to take the time to go and see some beautiful gems, gold and jewelry at the Q.I.A. at this fabulous show!! There is still a lot of things to do and see in Quartzsite and the surrounding areas before the hot weather sends the snowbirds back north again, and if you are looking for something to do and don't know where to go, come into the Business Chamber offi ce at 110 W. Main St, and get your information and maps etc. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) held a public "Open House" on the proposed La Posa Travel Management Plan (TPT) January 21st at the Quartzsite Community Center. The open house featured displays and large-size maps of the proposed plans for off-road vehicle trails and other uses on public lands in the area in and around Quartzsite. BLM staff were on hand to answer questions and take comments from the public. In an unprecented move, BLM is re-opening the Public Com- ment period. The deadline for comments is February 19th. This is the fourth period for public comment on the La Posa TMP. The deadline for comments is Feb. 19. The BLM is cur- rently considering four plans. Plan "B" offers the fewest route closures, while Plan "D" will see the most. The current plan BLM favors is Plan "C." The Yuma Field Offi ce has the plan maps on CDs. The address is 2555 E.
