JOE VAN DYKE FARMS 9510 18th Avenue Blythe, CA 760 922-5542 FRESH PRODUCE at The Farm Stand SEE US WEDNESDAYS 8AM-1PM QUARTZSITE FARMERS MARKET! THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT Volunteers... what would the town be without them? Could the QIA Pow Wow exist? Could the food bank stay open? Could the Historical Mu- seum function? Could the Business Chamber and the Rotary Club Offi - cers conduct their activities without volunteers? How about those parades? Everyone either in the parade or guarding an intersection, are giving their time to entertain those lining the streets. The Town employees and other folks serv- ing cookies and hot drinks also volun- teer their time. You need more than fi ngers and toes to count the number of people who go quietly about showing up where and when they are needed. Meanwhile, some of our self centered elected of- fi cials seldom take enough interest to show up. Those who do show are conspicuous by their presence. Volunteers are the true backbone of our town, not only that, they are great fun to be with! Elmer London, Quartzsite NEW STORE IN TOWN Spending the day at the newly opened B & D Sales and Consignment Shop at 775 North Central next to the Grubstake Restaurant was quite an experience. The customers who came to shop were as fascinated as me at the contents of new, used and barely used items for sale at great prices. It is defi nitely a picker's paradise with new items added daily. LETTERS FROM PAGE 7 A customer commented that he could spend hours looking through the many bins and shelves for odds and ends he needs and cannot fi nd anywhere else. He was fascinated to fi nd tires, rims, doors, windows, appliances, stereos, tools, electric tools, tool boxes, plumb- ing supplies, electrical supplies, RV parts and so much more. Odds and ends and bits and pieces of your wild- est imaginings are nestled among the myriad of items. Another customer came to inquire about consigning his vehicle after he saw a paneled work truck, a tow truck, fl atbed trailers, a fi fth wheel hauling trailer, a mini dune buggy, and a diesel truck. Dave of The Recyclers realized that the many items he was warehousing after scrapping old trailers, RVs and vehicles may be of use to someone else. Hence, the store came into being. It is best to stop by to see the posted store hours as they are sometimes closed when they are out replenishing the stock. I suggest you plan to spend some time scouting for some of those hard to fi nd items you need or didn't realize you needed! The adage, "One man's junk is another man's treasure" certainly applies here! With enthusiasm, Bonnie JW Riley THANK YOU Much thanks and appreciation to Rain and Starr.
