Desert Messenger MyQuartzsite.com ONLINE Quartzsite Business Chamber to hold week-long Open House for new offi ce By Joanne Winer The Quartzsite Business Chamber of Commerce is plan- ning a week-long Open House to invite people to come in and see their "new" offi ce trailer. The staff has been very busy since a freak microburst destroyed their offi ce trailer in late August. They were not sure at the time whether they would be able to replace the damaged trailer that had the roof totally torn off and the walls damaged to the point that the trailer was not able to be repaired. The rain that came in during the storm, before the Fire Dept. covered the hole in the roof with tarps, totally ruined all the fl yers, business cards, papers and other items that were in the main offi ce part of the trailer. They only lost one computer due to getting wet before they could get them all covered. The rain also ruined the carpet and fl oor, and with all the damage done to the roof, it was unsafe for it to be occupied again. The community came to the rescue when one member called a friend who used to live here and owned an offi ce trailer that was unused and still on her property at the east end of town. Patty Lamb, owner of the trailer, offered to donate it to the Chamber, and before they knew it others came forward and donated money, supplies, work other help. The Business Chamber is now ready to open for the season with their new offi ce--the fl oors have been replaced and all the painting inside and outside has been done. They have been busy moving things back out of stor- age and fi lling in all the pockets on the walls with their sched- ules, maps, etc. They are still bringing stuff in out of storage, but decided to open again, now since people have been coming back and need the information they give out at the chamber. The open house will be held from Wednesday November 5 to Wednesday November 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come in and see the new offi ce and how much work has been done thanks to all the help they were given by so many donations of cash and other help. Refresh- ments will be served each day. It is hoped that members will be able to take time to come in and bring their fl yers and busi- ness cards since all these things which were lost during the rain- storm. Please come in and visit the "new" offi ce and meet our volunteers and see what a com- munity pulling together can do to help this very important part of the town.
