MUSH VFD #27 A burst of activity, cooking and packag- ing was all day on Saturday, August 27 at The Sandy Mush Volunteer Fire Depart- ment. The annual fund raiser was, once again, in honor of two departed brothers, the Walls brothers, who were firefighters at # 27. Their father, Jimmy Walls, is now Assistant Fire Chief. Present Chief, William "Ditney" Clayton who is part of the found- ing members (1959), said it all started when the two brothers passed away at a very young age. Both had been proud members of Sandy Mush #27. The broth- ers called themselves "The Puddin' Boys", hence the name of the festival. The edu- cation scholarship is given every year in their honor. People from all over Rutherford County come to eat and get take out at the annual event. - M. A.Andrews AT SANDY Monday, September 19; American Red Cross Forest City 1pm–5pm.
