PAge 3 betA thetA Pi I would like to start by saying that I am very proud of the men of this chapter. Actives Post Impressive GPA Last spring, the brothers of Beta Pi Chapter achieved an impressive 3.43 GPA. This fall we plan on working hard to maintain our ranking as number one among all fraternities at Minnesota. Successful Summer Recruitment Again this year, IFC has implemented a more formalized recruitment process than in previous years. Members who were interested in joining a fraternity signed up for formal tours during the first weekend at school. This involved two long days of house tours followed by a week of scheduled events. We met more than 200 men and hosted events, which included attending a Twins game, a barbecue on the porch, and a trip to Sky Zone indoor trampoline park. Our successful GPA has helped tremendously with recruitment this fall. We're only two weeks into school and already have 11 great new members who have signed their bids. Beta at Convention This summer we had around 20 members attend the 175th General Convention in Oxford, Ohio. A few flat tires later, everyone made it Betas at Brotherhood playing Settlers of Catan. 1) Beta undergraduates entertained all attendees by singing a few famous Beta songs. 2) Jim Reese '60 spoke of how joining Beta was impactful to his life in many ways. 3) Lee Wangstad '64 travelled in from Birmingham, Alabama, to enjoy the 125th festivities. 4) As is tradition, Betas raised their hands to sing the Beta Doxology prior to dinner. 5) Beta Pi undergraduates sing "Beta Rose." 4 BQP Remains Preeminent Chapter at Minnesota Academics and Recruitment Continue to Grow Beta Pi was well represented at Beta's 175th annual General Convention in Oxford, Ohio in August. With nearly 1,800 Betas and guests in attendance, it was one of the largest Beta gatherings in history. Beta Theta Pies equals messy fun! there and back safely. At the convention, the Beta Pi Chapter was awarded our 16th Sission Award, which is extremely exciting. We also achieved 100% participation in the Sons of the Dragon Club for the second time in a row. The club is for undergraduates who donate to the Beta Foundation. Chapter Celebrates Milestone Year Beta Pi has functioned for 125 consecutive years at the University of Minnesota and recently celebrated our achievements on October 4 at the Millennium Hotel in downtown Minneapolis. It was an exciting event where alumni and guests came from all over to reconnect with their brothers and reminisce on their days as a Beta. As my term as president winds down, I would like to thank everyone for the hard work they put into this chapter. It has been an amazing experience and I have learned so much. It would not be possible without the backing and support from our alumni. As always, feel free to stop by the chapter house to meet the newest members. Our door is always open!
