3 GAMMA PSI OF BETA THETA PI Gamma Psi Celebrates Two Homecomings I had the memorable privilege to take part in both the rechartering of our Gamma Psi Chapter in early August and also spend a great day with alumni, actives, and their families at our fifth annual MSU Beta Homecoming tailgate. Perfect weather and company for both events! In Oxford, Ohio, on the eighth day of the eighth month, 175 years after, and at the same place of the founding of our beloved fraternity, the Gamma Psi Chapter was rechartered. Thank you all for the standing-room-only support of alumni and actives for the rechartering presentation and also for great support for the rechartering vote. To cap off the day, the hours-old rechartered Gamma Psi Chapter won a Sission Award, which is now on display at our chapter house. Beta's Homecoming tailgate at the Jension parking lot on September 27 drew alumni from as far as Boston and Los Angeles. This event has turned into the best gathering of the year to meet alumni and actives all in the same location sharing our brotherhood. Please mark your calendars for the following events: January 10, 2015 Rechartering banquet at the Kellogg Center, MSU April 2015 Annual BTAC meeting and Green/White spring football game The momentum continues to build at Gamma Psi. Now that we have our charter back and we have started some good traditions again with good people, we need to pull together for the final steps, resulting in the purchase of a house at MSU we can be proud to call home. As Burton Gerber '55 stated in his letter to all of us in August, "Search your heart for memories," and help build a bridge for those to come after us. Yours in _kai_, Keith Loch '86 Welcome Back, Gamma Psi! Chapter Regains Charter at 175th National Convention I am extremely excited about the current status of the Gamma Psi Chapter! We got our charter back this August at the 175th General Convention in Oxford, Ohio. I am very thankful for the tireless effort demonstrated by both the actives and the alumni in effort to regain our charter. All of their hard work has laid a foundation for Gamma Psi to build toward an even brighter future. New House Improves Chapter Morale Entering our second year at our new house on Bogue Street, we have already seen how having a residence can help foster brotherhood and has brought all of us closer together in Beta. Our positively trending results have already become evident. Gamma Psi Welcomes 26 New Members We are elated to announce that we have a 26-man pledge class! We have never gone into a rush week so prepared and it shows by recruiting such a great group of men. We cannot deny the amazing potential that all of these young men possess, and what this outstanding group could do for the future of the Gamma Psi. It has already been a wonderful fall and we are looking forward to another outstanding semester! Yours in _kai_, Nick Payne '16 Chapter President paynejo2@msu.edu How Does Your Class Rank? A cause John, and many alumni, believe in is Gamma Psi's capital campaign. "If you're passionate about something that's been meaningful to you, you should give back, whether it's Beta or otherwise. Since Beta gave me lifelong friends and a multitude of memories, I thought I would do my part and contribute to the campaign. It's time for all alumni to step up and help. The chapter is full of great young men, so by giving back, you're investing in their futures and the future of Beta at Michigan State." John and his wife, Judy (whom he met as a little sister of Gamma Psi), live in Los Angeles, California, and have two sons, Jackson and Joe. Raising two teenagers takes up a lot of time (lacrosse tournaments across the country, for example), but when he has some to spare, he enjoys golfing, snowboarding, and skiing.
