Page 2 Maintaining the High-Caliber Image of SAE at Purdue I t has been an exciting beginning to our fall semester at the Lodge and we are pleased to share with you what we have been up to! Academic Improvement Last semester, we were in the top 10 on campus in grades for fraternities, and also beat the all- men's average. We are pleased to report that our GPA among our brothers living in the house has risen to 3.02, and that our cumulative GPA is now at 3.03. Brothers Christian Brown '17 and Alex Bogard '15 show their SAE pride at the Indy 500. was busy, with over 10 events in the first two weeks, and more than 400 individuals coming through our door. I would like to thank both Neil Schaefer '15 and D.J. Sternasty '17 for their efforts as recruitment chairmen, as well as the chapter for their continued efforts to keep us number one on campus in recruitment. Philanthropy and Campus Involvement In other news, our new philanthropy chairman, Ryan Hire '15, has quickly gotten to work and planned a new sand volleyball philanthropy event, which was held on our property during the last weekend of September. We raised $800 for Children's Miracle Netowrk. We are also leading all Greek organizations in fundraising for the Purdue University Dance Marathon, which benefits Riley Children's Foundation, and we are looking forward to having all of our new freshmen help us out by joining us at the event. On campus, Neil Schaefer, our esteemed IFC president, put his name in the hat for Homecoming King along with a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. We also welcomed back all of our brothers who studied abroad last semester, which was a record number that made us the second highest among Greeks, as far as abroad representation was concerned. Intramurals and Social Events It has not been all work however. We have been enjoying a fantastic football season being paired with the lovely ladies of Pi Beta Phi and have had an exciting social calendar planned by our events chairman, Kyle Crawford '17. The brothers enjoyed a trip down to Louisville, Kentucky, during the first weekend of October for a fall formal event. It was a very fun and memorable time. We thank all our alumni for generously supporting us. I hope to see you at the Lodge this year. Phi Alpha, Steven R.
