I was shocked by the Quartzsite School Bond Proposi- tion wording. 10 days ago Superin- tendent Price spent about 30 minutes explaining this in a meeting and said it was ONLY for technology. Price total- ly misled us as the bond barely men- tions technology. It appears mostly for renovation and expansion. State Law, Students FIRST pays for new schools and renovation. This bond is 12% interest when citizens can't get 1%. $1,000,000 at 12% for 20 years costs taxpayers $3,703,005.35! Superintendent Price told us the entire amount had to be used within 3 years. So we pay $3,703,005.35 over 20 years for an inept board to squan- der the proceeds the fi rst 3 years? There would be no funds for the last 17 years. We're already paying large school taxes (much higher rates than Parker). I'm for the schools getting technology but this bond is stupid and without planning. The current school board and Superintendent Price have NO ability to run the district. Both Quartzsite and Ehrenberg schools are now D-RATED Schools which is totally unacceptable. Su- perintendent Price has been trying to CLOSE Quartzsite Elementary and bus all children to Ehrenberg. Seriously! Many parents have pulled their chil- dren from school for home teaching. Quartzsite children are our future and without a BIG CHANGE fast, we have no future. Famous Russian Saying: The Fish Rots from the Head. Terrible customer service can become outstanding overnight. Vote for Henshaw-Jackson-Timber- lake for School Board so Superinten- dent Price is gone from Quartzsite and both schools have their own Principal who is totally responsible for the re- sults. Then watch Quartzsite become an A/B-Rated School and parents send kids back to school. Once schools are fi xed here, then ask for a much smaller amount paid over 5 years. Dr. Ron Jones Concerned Full Time Quartzsite Resident KNOWLEGE, NOT REVENGE I worked at Quartzsite Elementary School for 22 years. I retired 6 months ago. In those 22 years, I stayed out of politics of the town and school. Schools and its children belong to the community, the parents, and the staff working together as one for that child. Quartzsite School District is broken. Of 50 states, Arizona ranked 43rd in 2013, 46th in 2014 in education. Quartzsite Elementary was a B school under the direction of Bill Blong and Mrs. McGee. Last year we were a D rated school under the direction of Jacque Price (for 7 years.) Discipline was nil with Mr. Blong; my last year under Mrs. Price we were up to a 3 inch binder. I'm tired of hearing from employees and 1 school board member, that the parents have their children longer than they do. The children get to school at 7:30 am leave at 2:30, 3:30, or 4:30. Most parents don't get home till 5. Parents have them maybe 5 hours/day and school has them 7-8 hours. School has breakfast, lunch, recess and parents have supper, baths, and homework. If the parents help with homework, then it's the schools responsibility to teach them. No more
