Page 5 T he Sigma Chi vision is to be "the preeminent collegiate leadership development organization—aligned, focused and living our core values." Our mission is to "develop values-based leaders committed to the betterment of character, campus, and community." These programs are naturally available to our undergraduates, but you may not realize that many opportunities exist for alumni involvement. Having local alumni trained in these areas is a great way to make a difference and give back to the fraternity and Alpha Epsilon. It is also an excellent way to strengthen the brotherhood at 1510 Vine. Alumni can participate even if they have not received training as a facilitator. Donating time has a great impact on our Chapter, and the undergraduates enjoy the opportunity to build relationships with our alumni. Some of you may be familiar with the Sigma Chi vision, but are you aware of the tangible and tested tools available to our undergraduate fraternity to underpin it? The Husker Sig thought it might be helpful to provide a brief summary of the key programs that our Alpha Epsilon Sigs are tapped into as they live out our fraternity's vision and mission. Given our limited space, we will simply name the resources and provide a brief description of them. For those wishing to dive deeper, lots of meaty information can be found at www.sigmachi.org. Thomas Cowan Bell Chapter Challenge: Provides critical leadership training through alumni support of the Sigma Chi Foundation. Balfour Leadership Training Workshop: Sigma Chi's longest-standing leadership training workshop brings together the best and brightest of leaders and their ideas for undergraduate leadership initiatives. Province Workshop: Brings together inspiring alumni speakers, provides advanced ritual training, and facilitates Chapter strategic planning. Alpha Epsilon is in the Central Province. Ritual Renaissance Training: Provides accreditation for ritual peers and masters for both undergraduates and alumni, emphasizing excellence in ritual performance. Horizons Leadership Training: Elite weeklong leadership training limited to fewer than 200 carefully selected Sig undergraduates that emphasizes personal development, effective group dynamism, and impact on community. (Since 2009 Alpha Epsilon has been represented six times!) Crossroads: Designed to teach undergraduates how to incorporate values-based and informed decisions regarding the use of drugs and alcohol. Mission 365: Recruitment training built around forming values- based relationships with future members based on The Jordan Standard. Journey Retreats: Local programs designed to engage undergraduates on relevant contemporary topics hosted by trained alumni. Strategic Visioning Journey: Culminating after the Balfour Workshop, this process is required of every chapter to complete its strategic plan. Strengthening Brotherhood: There are a number of dynamic, interpersonal programs designed to maximize character development, as well as provide effective tools for issues facing students today. Topics include risk intervention, recruiting the standard, sexual conduct, Sig lifeline suicide prevention, and the Jordan anti-hazing initiative. The International Fraternity's portfolio of programs is a tremendous resource for Alpha Epsilon as it pursues its vision. We take advantage of each of these programs and embrace them.
