Partnerships in Understanding, The Jane Goodall Institute The Jane Goodall Institute began their Partnerships in Understanding program in 2003. It was intended to be a correspondence program that would allow Canadian Roots & Shoots members to get to know another Roots & Shoots group in a sub-Saharan Africa country. However, the program was not as successful as originally intended due to many challenges including a lack of buy-in, participant engagement and meaningful exchanges. The Jane Goodall Institute has recognized mobile technology and mobile learning as a potential avenue to reinvigorate the program and to address many of these critical barriers. Dibaajimo & Maidan "ﻥﺍﺪﻴﻣ", Journalists for Human Rights Journalists for Human Rights works to train local journalists to report ethically and effectively on human rights issues so that they can create change in their communities through exposing injustices and calling governments to account. In an effort to expand and streamline this training in Canadian aboriginal communities, JHR created the Dibaajimo Indigenous reporters portal. This portal provides an online space where Indigenous journalists can collaborate to improve the quality and quantity of news stories focused on Indigenous people, culture and issues, while also providing them with online journalism training courses. JHR has also developed a very interesting mobile platform called Maidan, which is currently being piloted in Jordan. Maidan is an open-source mobile app that allows users to anonymously report human rights violations through posting pictures and descriptions of the event as it occurs. This platform was created to address the information gap regarding human rights violations in Jordan. The anonymously submitted data can then be accessed freely for educational, reporting, or governmental purposes. Raisin Online Fundraising, A.K.A. New Media Raisin works to empower non-profit organizations and to help them maximize their online fundraising activity. The raisin integrated system, coupled with A.K.A. New Media's professional expertise, provides organizations with the tools they need to make online event setup and administrative tasks simple. One aspect of their work involves creating mobile solutions and platforms that allow people to make direct donations quickly and easily. Many factors are taken into account during the development of these platforms including usability, design and integration of PayPal.
