8 www.DesertMessenger.com July 16, 2014 Contributed by: Violet Kiss Wow, what a down home, old-fashioned July 4th party we all had! I am amazed how this town came together. Everyone, and I mean everyone said "yes" when asked to do something. It's been years since we've had such a great turnout for a community function. In today's paper Joanne Winer has thanked so many of our wonderful nonprofi t groups, town services and the town itself for throwing one big, happy event. So, it's my turn to thank everyone who helped the Quartzsite Rotary do its part in the festivities. We are so thankful to the many Rotarian busi- nesses here year-round who donated so that we could bring down the prices of the food for all to come out and enjoy the evening. A big "thank you" to: A Family's Voice Advocacy Consultant (Carrol- lynn Henshaw); Best Auto & RV Re- pair (Anna Del Pino); Desert Gardens Holdings (Dennis Kuehl); Horizon Rotary Doings First locally-owned and operated music station in Quartzsite, Arizona. Proudly serving the communities of Quartzsite, Bouse, Brenda, Rainbow Acres, La Paz Valley and beyond, since 1988. Last, but not least of all, we'd like to thank Town Hall (Skylor Miller) for making this all pos- sible. He got several different depart- ments and citizens together to prepare, build, fi nish, and make sure everything worked properly. This is what this community is all about, coming together to have fun, work and play together. Everyone had such a good time watching the kids frolicking in the water, playing games, winning prizes, munching on chili dogs, snow cones, cotton candy and watermelon. Oh, and the "big" kids, too! Just a reminder, don't forget our "Meet the Candidates" night at the Senior Center, Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 6 PM. We'll have coffee, water and cookies waiting for you.
