New lot for Chapter House and rooms.
Our Plan
W
ith over three years of discussion and planning, the
alumni leadership of Texas Alpha has developed a
construction plan for a new chapter house. A once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity for Texas Alpha became a reality with the securing
of land and townhomes at 2501 Nueces Street, one block from
Guadalupe and Dean Keeton. Currently only townhomes exist
but the plan calls for much more in order to maintain Texas
Alpha as the premier fraternity at the University of Texas.
e design calls for a small renovation of the recently built
Honors Townhomes, which will become the East Building and
will house 20 undergraduates in mixed single-occupancy and
double-occupancy modular-style rooms. Additionally, on the
remaining lot the plan includes a subterranean parking garage
for 28 and the construction of the 26,600-square-foot Main
Chapter House West Building. is building will be the life
center for the Fraternity with enough space to accommodate the
chapter with the most efficient kitchen and dining area, as well
as a welcoming great room for alumni, parents and the members
to enjoy hosting guests and speakers.
Ample space has been given to the courtyard concept so that
the traditions of Texas Alpha continue into this new era of our
history. e second floor will provide space for learning and
socializing with the chapter room, media room and outdoor
sports court. Finally, the third floor caps off the new West
Building with room to house 18 additional undergraduates. e
architect, Connolly Architects & Consultants, and the Texas
Alpha alumni leadership have developed an estimate for this
project totaling $8.4 million.
