Our Challenges W hile the Phi Psi experience is certainly more than the bricks and mortar of the chapter house, our home undoubtedly plays a significant role in the development of our brothers and is a proud symbol of our shared values and goals. Built in 1957, 2411 Longview is almost 60 years old and is showing its age. It has become clear that we must make a major investment in a chapter house if we are to remain competitive, provide a quality living environment, and create honorable men who are courteous, cultured and loyal. KEEPING OUR BROTHERS SAFE Physical and Safety Needs e safety of our 100 collegiate members is of utmost importance to the alumni leadership. We must offer a structurally sound and safe home for the active chapter. Much like our personal homes, our chapter house must be a safe haven that instills confidence in our members, their parents and provides a welcoming environment where a sense of brotherhood develops and thrives. PURSUING EXCELLENCE Academic and Technological Needs Texas is as academically challenging as ever and the need for an enhanced, quiet, well-lit and comfortable study space within our facility is necessary for our members to achieve. We have all seen the impact of technology over the years, as devices not present during our college years are now necessities, including personal computers, high-speed Internet access and e-mail. Our plan will ensure that Texas Alpha excels academically and remains scholastic leaders on campus and within the Greek system. SETTING OURSELVES APART Competition While Phi Kappa Psi continues to attract some of the top men, we know that we are losing quality potential members to other fraternities that offer better facilities. We must also compete with the amenities offered in newly renovated on-campus residence halls and off- campus apartments. A unique opportunity for us to build a fraternity house like no other at U.T. is before us. e chance to create a new space that incorporates our heritage while looking to the future is very important to the house board. We can no longer meet the needs of our members; our chapter house is 56 years old and we can no longer provide a first-class facility to our undergraduate brothers. ® NUECES STREET 25TH STREET
