I remember when I started looking at colleges, people told me that "you will just know, you'll feel it in your gut" and I had that feeling the second I took a house tour with the recruitment team at Delt. The brotherhood between the guys was second to none, and they were not afraid to embrace a diversity of majors and push each other to get involved. I thought, now that's something I want to be a part of. Everyone looks for something different when choosing colleges and the right fraternity; I was fortunate enough that mine happened to both be in Ames. What sense of pride do you have as a Gamma Pi member? Gamma Pi til I Die. It's something that we say among ourselves, and even as my sophomore year comes to an end, I still feel like I affirm this more and more every day. We are one of the top chapters in the nation, and that's not something that just happens one day. My most proud moments are when I attend blood drives or go to Dance Marathon events on campus and hear people asking "Are the Delts running this whole thing?" because we don't just stay within the Greek community, we get extremely involved on campus and in the community. Have you held any offices in the chapter? I have had the privilege of serving as parent relations chairman and am currently the treasurer. What are your future career plans? After leaving Gamma Pi and Iowa State, I plan to work internationally in some type of optimization consulting firm. I really like improving how technology and people interact and hope that I can make a living doing that in companies of all sizes. What are some of your favorite Delta Tau Delta memories? The memories that always come to mind first when someone asks me about Delt, and college in general, have to be the all-nighters working on Homecoming lawn display and just being around the guys. A close second is definitely the Delt roadtrips that I have taken throughout my career at Iowa State. It's not something that I can really put into words, but anyone who has taken a 10+ hour drive packed into a car with their brothers knows exactly what I am talking about. You just form a bond that isn't really something that can be described. How has Delta Tau Delta helped you become who you are today? I believe Delta Tau Delta has helped shape an important time of development in my life. It has strengthened my morals and ethics, as it continues to today. Most freshmen in college jump in without a real direction. I feel that Delt not only gave me that direction, but also has given me the skills and tools to succeed pursing my goals. I would not be involved in the organizations, part of the philanthropies, or as comfortable at Iowa State Is there anything else you would like to add? I would like to say thank you to all who have donated to the capital campaign so far, and to all of those who plan on making pledges. I know this would not be possible without you, so let's take this opportunity and give it all we've got! I look forward to seeing more alumni in Ames over the next few years. As an active, it is my goal to provide more opportunities and events for families to visit, as well as follow the construction and progress of the new Shelter. I hope they are able to take the time to share their old memories and new hopes with all.
