During the annual House Corporation meeting, members voted to authorize the directors of the corporation to enter into a tri-party agreement with Texas Capital Bank (lender) and SMU (guarantor) in order to build a new chapter house at 3120 Daniel. The current Alpha Upsilon chapter house, built in 1952, will be demolished this May with new construction to begin in June. During the 2014-15 school year, the chapter will be housed directly across from 3120 Daniel in the former Zeta Tau Alpha house, which is currently used as a Panhellenic house. In the fall of 2015, the new Alpha Upsilon house will be ready to accommodate 40 DG women. The new house will be nearly three times the size of the current chapter house. The entire house will be ADA compliant. There will be a grand staircase leading to the second floor, a large dining room that will accommodate the entire chapter, and a chapter room on the third floor with elevator access to the upper floors. Each bedroom will have a study area separated from the sleeping area. There will be large central bathrooms on each floor. Fire suppression, security, wireless and audio visual systems will add to the safety and much-needed technology of the house. Susan Hall Farris '72 and Carol Duncan '76, capital campaign co-chairmen, thanked Alpha Upsilon members and friends of DG for their support. The campaign, which has raised nearly $1.84 million in pledges and donations, has a very attainable goal of $2 million. The support from Alpha Upsilon initiates, friends, and parents has been overwhelming with over 350 individuals making pledges and donations to date. This willingness to give can only attest to the outstanding impact that Delta Gamma has had on its members through the years. Thank you so much to those who have already supported our project. We would love to see every Alpha Upsilon's name on the donor list.
