To date, more than 350 alumnae have responded to the Anchored in Tradition, Building Our Future campaign, and we are truly grateful for these sisters who demonstrate what it means to be a lifelong member of Delta Gamma. However, the future of Alpha Upsilon cannot rely on the support of our 355 contributors and the 181 collegians who make up the chapter today—our success hinges on the participation of all 1,997 members. This is where you can help. The undergraduates have done their part to carry on the Delta Gamma tradition: collectively pledging $250,000 to the campaign, initiating 54 wonderful new members, earning an impressive 3.4 GPA, and continuing to support DG's philanthropy, Service for Sight. As Chapter President Lauren Shamoon '12 conveyed to alumnae in the spring newsletter: "Our success would not be possible without the Delta Gamma foundation you have left us with, and for that we are very grateful." We are amazed at the goals Delta Gamma has achieved this year, but only 16% of our alumnae have participated in the campaign; surely we can do better than that! We need to raise $162,740 to reach our fundraising goal. The campaign board and House Corporation are diligently working to put alumnae dollars to use. We will start construction on the chapter house this summer and cannot wait to see the new home once it's finished! Visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/deltagammasmu for updates and photos of the construction progress. Oh, Where Has That Little Form Gone? Have you put your pledge card away to be dealt with later? Has it been misplaced? In whatever way you can, we ask each and every one of you to participate. We encourage you to use the five-year pledge plan to benefit both yourself and Alpha Upsilon. There is a replacement pledge card enclosed in this newsletter for your convenience. Please don't toss it aside or throw it away—fill it out now for the future of Delta Gamma. Each donor who contributes $2,500 or more will be recognized on a prominently displayed plaque in the new chapter house. Our success depends on YOU. With your participation, there is no limit to what we can accomplish together. The traditional candle lighting ceremony honoring our three founders was beautifully performed by members of the four Dallas alumnae chapters. Alpha Upsilon President Lauren Shamoon '12 recited the roll call of collegiate chapters with alumnae standing when their respective chapter was called. Laurie Watson Kight, Delta Kappa '89, VP membership on the Council for Delta Gamma, inspired us with her keynote address. She spoke about Delta Gamma's support for philanthropy and scholarship. She also praised Dallas-area alumnae and collegians for "doing good" in their community and on campus. She congratulated the Alpha Upsilon Chapter and House Corporation for their commitment to building a new chapter house for Delta Gamma at SMU. Cream roses were presented to 50-, 60- and 70-year members, and 50-year members in attendance received the traditional rose pin. Collegians were honored for scholarship, with special recognition for those who have achieved a 4.0 average. Pam Fellows Jamieson, Alpha Delta '77, introduced the new member class and graduating seniors. Initiation of 54 new members took place on March 23, bringing the chapter total to 181.
