Delta Gamma page 7 T he spring semester was busier than ever at Alpha Upsilon. January was an exciting time as we finished formal recruitment by welcoming 54 new members into our home, 10 of whom are Delta Gamma legacies! These women were initiated on March 23. Our new member pursuit and education process was productive and informative, and the new members enjoyed their time learning about the history of Delta Gamma. February was a fun-filled month as well, as the newest members found out who their Big Sis was on Valentine's Day. The Big/Little Reveal was held in Crum Auditorium at SMU, and both the Bigs and Littles were happy to meet their new DG families. During March, we had a blast celebrating Founders Day at the Royal Oaks Country Club. We loved mingling with alumnae and hope to see you all again soon! April brought the joys of Mom's Weekend, which was on the same weekend as Sing Song, the annual Greek talent show. DG placed third in the event and received Best Female Vocalist from the judges. With the semester coming to a close, we recognize our graduating seniors for their accomplishments and their transition to becoming alumnae of Delta Gamma. We are so excited to see what amazing things these seniors do! As a chapter, we have decided to move our favorite spring philanthropy event, Anchor Splash, to the fall semester. Having Anchor Splash in September will not only allow us to have more time to fundraise, but we will have more time to advertise our event to SMU and the community. We are so excited for this new change and are already hard at work on fundraising. We have raised about $30,000 per year in the past and hope that we can exceed this in the fall. Next fall we will also be hosting our annual lectureship, the Delta Gamma Foundation Lectureship in Values and Ethics. We are working hard on attaining a fabulous speaker and can't wait to share this lectureship with the SMU community. The Alpha Upsilon Chapter is very excited to usher in a new era of excellence with the building of a new home in the coming months. With construction beginning in mid-June, we are excited and grateful for this wonderful opportunity. We appreciate all the support from alumnae and donors in this pursuit of a new house for Delta Gamma!
