Dear Beta Theta Pi Alumni: It is with great pleasure that I write to support the efforts of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity as you begin the process for raising funds to address needs of your chapter house located at 1625 University Avenue, adjacent to the University of Minnesota. For 135 years, the fraternity and sorority community has provided residential, social, and cocurricular experiences that have contributed to the development of thousands of successful alumni who continue to make significant contributions to the well-being of the University, the state of Minnesota, the nation and the world. In 2012, I commissioned a task force to look at how the University and Greek alumni and students can work more closely together to ensure that our fraternity and sorority community is providing a unique and elite leadership experience for its students—one that is aligned with the University's goals for student engagement and success. At the conclusion of this effort, a pathway was established which provided guidance for the future. Within this report is a focus on the rebuilding and redevelopment of our chapter facilities. It is in this spirit that I am encouraged by the project being undertaken by Beta Theta Pi. I am eager and excited to see the engagement by Beta Theta Pi as you reinvest in a home that has been part of the University community for a long time and provided great memories to those who have had the opportunity to live within its walls. Since its founding in 1889 at the University of Minnesota, Beta Theta Pi has helped to provide an opportunity for its members to develop important skills and serve the University and greater community, while adhering to your values of trust, integrity, and cultivation of intellect. I am enthusiastic about the impact that a successful fundraising campaign will have on your chapter for years to come. The University looks forward to working with Greek alumni to strengthen our fraternity and sorority community and enhance student success. Thank you for supporting this important endeavor. Sincerely, Eric W. Kaler President EWK:JS:jk
