"Sixty-four years ago I wisely became a Beta. It was one of the best things I've ever
done. As an undergraduate, the years of 1949-1952 were golden. Most importantly
were the lifelong friendships I made and the values I learned. I've been active as an
alumnus for the last 25 years, so I've had the opportunity of meeting and forming
friendships with a new generation of Betas. The Beta Pi Chapter is thriving today and
is one of the best Beta Theta Pi chapters in the entire General Fraternity, as well as at
the University of Minnesota. As you may remember from Beta lore, alumni built our
current house that opened in 1927. If we, the present alumni, have the same sense of
dedication and vision for the future of Beta Pi as that group of 1927 alumni, the next
generation of Betas will enjoy a safe, structurally sound and modernized home that is
worthy of being called the Beta house." –Bert Leach '52, Honorary Chairman
