W hile the Beta Pi experience is certainly more than the physical structure of the chapter house, our home undoubtedly plays a significant role in the development of our brothers and as a proud symbol of our shared values and goals. Built in 1927, 1625 University Avenue has been a part of Beta Pi's legacy for 85 years and is showing its age. Over the course of the last two years, a committee has been formulated to evaluate and address the need to repair and update the chapter house. It has become clear that we must make a major investment in our home if we are to provide a quality living environment, remain consistent with student housing, and continue to be competitive among fraternities. Keeping Our Brothers Safe (Physical and Safety Needs) The safety of our collegiate members is of utmost importance to the Beta Theta Pi Society of Minnesota; we must offer a structurally sound and safe home for our collegians, specifically by installing a sprinkler system, replacing outdated plumbing, and making numerous safety upgrades throughout the house. The chapter house needs these modern upgrades to ensure the safety of our undergraduate brothers and their guests. Much like our personal homes, our chapter house must be a safe haven that instills confidence in our members and their parents. Pursuing Excellence (Academic and Technological Needs) The University of Minnesota is as academically challenging as ever and the need for an enhanced, quiet, well-lit, and comfortable study space within our facility is necessary for our members to achieve. We have all seen the transformation of the University of Minnesota campus as it offers renovated spaces for studying, recreational activities and entertainment. Our plan will ensure that Beta Pi offers equal amenities for our undergraduate brothers to continue to be leaders on campus and within the Greek system. Setting Ourselves Apart (Competition) While Beta Pi continues to attract some of the top men, we know that we are losing quality potential members to other fraternities that offer better facilities. A new on-campus residence hall has been built across from the chapter house and offers modern amenities the incoming college student desires. Other fraternities are also updating their facilities to keep up with campus modernization; multiple fraternities have made modest updates and renovations to their structures. In order to offer similar features for potential members, Beta Pi must enhance the facility while our undergraduate brothers preserve the customs and values of Beta Theta Pi. our goalS aNd NeedS
