Cooperative Extension Service Most home owners landscape with plants as opposed to planting seeds. Plants can come from a variety of sup- pliers; nurseries, stores, other land- scapes; just a wide range of sources. Many of the plants used in our area need to be planted in the new location facing in the same direction as they did in the old location. Cacti, Agave, Ocotillo, and some trees and shrubs may not be as heat and sun tolerant as native trees and shrubs. Live Christ- mas trees are an example. When buy- ing landscape plants it is a good idea to plant using directional planting. It isn't much of a chore to simply mark a direction on the plant when you buy it and then just re-plant in that direction. This should improve survivability. Even when you purchase a plant with a guarantee it is still a fair amount of time and effort to dig it up, take it back and plant another one when direction- al planting may have helped that plant survive. Our offi ce can help advise on planting and growing landscape plants. The advice is free. Our offi ce is located at 2524 Mutahar and our telephone number is 928 669-9843. Phone or stop by. We are always happy to see and talk with you. Directional Transplanting Memorial Celebration planned Quartzsite - You are invited to at- tend services at Covenant Lutheran church this summer.
