And it's not just about quantity; it's also about non-tradi- tional earrings. Gaia Repossi started a revolution with her high-fashion ear cuffs a few years ago, and now, even more tradi- tional designers are now following suit. This kind of jewelry often doesn't require a piercing, and it's one-size-fits-all, which is a huge benefit for retailers concerned about investing in trends. Beyond the pull- through chain danglers, clips and cuffs, one-off stud earrings are very much in vogue. Fashion-oriented designers are already merchandising stud earrings as singles, rather than pairs, because the customer likes to mix and match. Thin Is In Post "arm-party," bracelets are still key, but we are downsizing from heavy cuffs and links to more delicate stacks, to allow for more focus on the hands. Slim bangles and chains with single charms/ motifs or accent stones are still perfect for layering but provide a softer, more feminine effect. Anything goes as far as high/low com- binations – mixed metals, rough & polished stones and color + neutrals. Consider offering styles available in blackened/oxidized, rose and green gold as well as white and yellow, as customers are more likely to take a chance on the unusual for this category. And if inventory allows, try creating a case (or images for your website and social media) that highlight interesting combinations from different designers, to help customers visualize how a new bracelet could work with pieces they may already own. Marla Aaron "Ear Cufflings" available in gold or silver with diamonds or semi- precious stones (no piercing required, worn above the lobe) Jade Trau "Stacking Ear Cuff" in 18K rose gold, available with white or black diamonds Melissa Joy Manning Herkimer Diamond Cuff in hammered 14K gold, also available in oxidized silver with 14K accents
