Page 3 The DelTa Chi eDuCaTional FounDaTion www.dcef.com B rian LoCicero, Marquette '88, reaped many long-term benefits by being in a small chapter. Because of the chapter's size, all members needed to be active and involved in order for it to succeed on campus. "We learned to be jacks-of-all-trades. We had to do every job when it came to recruitment and planning events. This taught me to think quickly on my feet, take part in any activity, and see it through execution." His positive experiences at Marquette Chapter are what influenced him to be an ongoing supporter of Delta Chi. The great leadership training he gleaned from Marquette Chapter prepared him for a successful career. Brian is an operational account director with Kantar Media, one of the world's largest insight information and consultancy groups. He is in charge of setting up operational strategies for some of their largest global clients and is the Kantar liaison to Twitter. Brian has worked at Kantar for 22 years and previously worked for other marketing departments in financial services industries. Brian firmly believes in the importance of giving back to Delta Chi and has donated to The Delta Chi Educational Foundation (DCEF) Marquette Chapter account, as well as the general fund. "At Marquette, no one was offering scholarships when I was there, so from the minute I left school, I started donating to scholarships." Brian is also excited to give to the "A"s' Academy. Brian never was an "A", but he recognizes that making sure "A"s have the best foundation to enable them to be strong leaders to their chapters is vital. Brian also supports Delta Chi through volunteering his time. He served as Marquette's ABT president in late 1980s and early 1990s, which was a particularly rough time for the chapter. "We were going through a lot of changes and issues, and I wanted to make sure alumni involvement continued through the rough patch. I did it simply because I needed to—something I learned by being in the chapter." Brian's leadership on the ABT, which helped bridge the gap between Marquette's issues and the beginning of a new, stronger generation at Marquette, earned him a Meritorious Service Award. Brian served on the DCEF board from 2006 to 2008. He stays active with the Marquette Chapter and is close with several Delta Chi executives. When possible, he also tries to provide internships and career opportunities for Delta Chi graduates. Attending Delta Chi International Conventions has been an enjoyable and eye-opening experience for Brian. "When you are involved with your chapter as an undergraduate, your chapter becomes your whole world. Eventually, you realize there are other chapters. By attending an International Convention, I realized I was a part of a much bigger organization—a brotherhood of all ages, cultures, and races—that is working to improve the life of young men internationally." Many of Brian's close friends are his Marquette brothers, including three of his four groomsmen. He also stays close with a few recent Marquette graduates. Brian and his wife, Mary, have a son, Aidan (6), and stay active supporting his activities. Confirming his firm belief in the Fraternity, Brian says, "I encourage any Delta Chi to contribute in any form or fashion to Delta Chi." BROTHER THANKFUL FOR DELTA CHI'S INFLUENCE IN SHAPING HIS LIFE Giving Options with Long-Term Impact W e are very grateful to the brothers who give to the Delta Chi Educational Foundation (DCEF).
