During the fall semester, we had 21 brothers make Dean's List, and of those 21, 15 brothers earned 4.0 G.P.As. In addition to the great grades at Westminster College, David McDermott '15 returned from studying in China while Wes Bramer '15 studied in England where another active, Hossam Hashish '15, is staying for a second semester at the London School of Economics. Beta's Social life Throughout the year we attempt to supplement our studying with well thought-out social events. We have at least one formal per month, all with fun and interesting themes, and host a wide variety of parties. I am not merely talking about a typical Thursday night out, but an epic event that has the entire campus counting down the days until the party. Every year we have a party to celebrate America, called Freedom in February. Another big hit is our annual boat party, which is our biggest and longest running annual party. The women of Westminster and William Woods are always on the hunt to be invited by a handsome Beta. It is hard to share how much fun we are having at the Alpha Delta Chapter through a single paragraph, so we will just have to show you on Alumni Weekend. See you then. intramurals The Intramural program for the Alpha Delta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi is on the upswing after placing second in A team softball, A team basketball, and B team futsal. Following a disappointing fourth place finish in the Intramural Standings in 2013, Beta looks to improve our ranking and is currently in third place with volleyball, Beta's dominant sport, still on the schedule. With former All-State volleyball player Richard Sterns '14 returning from England, it is expected that Beta will take home the volleyball championship once again. Although Beta is making a big turnaround in intramural sports, there is still a lot of room for improvement. After a surprising second place finish in A team basketball, Beta is an undefeated volleyball season away from possibly winning intramurals. With the help of Richard Sterns, Brett Simon '17, and Russell Wohldmann '17, we believe that this is an attainable goal. Westminster Sports Outside of intramurals, the Alpha Delta Chapter has athletes who represent Westminster's baseball, soccer, football, and golf teams. Richard Sterns, the lone football player in the house, a starting defensive end for the Blue Jays football team. He totaled 25 combined tackles and assisted tackles during the course of the season, and played in all 10 games. Raul Belman '17 and John Davis '14, goaltenders for Westminster's soccer team, helped the Blue Jays make it to the NCAA Division III tournament for the first time ever, and then proceeded to carry them all the way to the Sweet 16. During the tournament run, Raul recorded two shutouts, and Davis was awarded the sportsman of the year award. As for baseball, many Betas are playing this season including Seth Close '17, Russell Wohldmann '17, and Jack Kopmann '16. A.C. Long '16, Westminster's starting catcher, finished last year's season with a .278 batting average and an impressive .986 fielding percentage. He looks to improve on those numbers even more this upcoming season. Beta is slowly emerging as the golf house as members Carson Butts '16, John Davis '14, Austin Schreck '15, Adam DeRousse '16, and Jay Gilliam '15 made up half of Westminster's golf team last year. Both DeRousse and Davis qualified and travelled to St. Louis to compete in the SLIAC Conference Championship. A.C. Long '16, catcher for the Westminster varsity baseball team.
