This recognition of an Alpha brother is to acknowledge success in business, athletics, community, or other venues outside the fraternity. We have awarded alumni through the Hall of Fame for work in the fraternity as an alumnus. The first winners of the award were Thomas Dunning '65, presented by Bruce Schnitzer '66; and Steve Worster '71, presented by Tom Hicks '68. This award will honor many more alumni of our chapter as we go through the years. We have over 2,000 members on the rolls, with many success stories to reveal. gary griffith '70 read the names of the Hall of Fame winners, reminding us of the many Alpha Chapter pioneers. This is a group of visionaries and reactionaries that not only brought new ideas to the alumni group, but also assisted in the unplanned chapter events by offering time and monies to guarantee the chapter's survival. Jerry Smith '79 reported that the chapter is in an amazing period of manpower and financial stability. With over 200 members, a 3.2 GPA, and a balanced budget, the alumni leadership needs to be acknowledged for their guidance. What a long period of positive achievements for the active chapter. Doug Brustkern '14, the active chapter president in 2013, gave a great report on the ongoing social, community service, and school service in which the chapter is involved. Thanks to all who made the night happen. Doug Jones '05 is the alumnus who works the magic for this event and we appreciate all his help and commitment. Having been a part of the Texas Alpha Chapter for over 37 years, the group that gathered on this night in Austin represented the best of our alumni. The diversity of the classes represented shows that Sigma Phi Epsilon Texas Alpha is not just a four-years- and-done organization. It is a lifetime experience that should never be forgotten. On this night we celebrated with each other through our common thread, which is Sigma Phi Epsilon. I encourage all to attend next Founders' Day, which will be in the fall.
