Council member seats which are up for 4-year term are Vice Mayor Mike Jewitt, Appointed members Norma Crooks, Carol Kelley and Mary Scott. There is one (1) 2-year term seat available. In October 2013 Monica Timberlake was appointed (until the next general election) to fi ll the council seat vacated by the resig- nation of Patricia Workman. Can- didates must declare if they are running for a four-year term or two- year term. The Arizona Primary election will be held Tuesday, August 26th. Voter Registration closes July 28 at mid- night. The General election will be held Tuesday, November 4th. Voter Registration closes October 6th at midnight. Arizona's primary system is con- sidered semi-closed. Unaffi liated voters may choose which party's primary they will vote in, but voters registered with a party can only vote in that party's primary. The fi rst date to fi le candidate nomination petitions is April 28th, 2014. The last day to fi le is 5:00pm on May 28th, 2014. Deadline for Write-in Candidates for Primary Election is 5:00pm July 17, 2014; General Election is Sep- tember 25, 2014 at 5:00pm. Nationally recognized author (Genetic Genealogy: The Basics and Beyond) Emily Doolin Aulicino will present "Autosomal DNA - Who's Your Cousin? atDNA Knows". Attendees should bring a brown bag lunch as there will be an op- portunity to ask questions of Ms. Aulicino. Of interest to fl edgling and expe- rienced genealogists and adoptees who need direction to clarify family lines will be given the keys to the latest proven tool to overcome brick walls in searching their heritage. Emily will provide you with the confi dence to use DNA cheek swab testing to overcome or disprove oral family history, confl icting evi- dence or when written records stop in your family research lines. The autosomal DNA test can be sub- mitted by both males and females and may answer lineage questions by providing matches going back as far as ten generations. Emily Doolin Aulicino, a retired teacher and genealogist since 1970, manages thirteen DNA projects through Family Tree DNA (FTD- NA). She is the regional Coordina- tor of the International Society of Genetic Genealogy, manages 13 DNA projects and a surname study at the Guild of One Name Studies. Her presentations reach a variety of audiences, including: Family Tree DNA's International Conference; Southern California Genealogical Society's DNA Day at Jamboree; All Cultural Society of Ireland (where she has written for Irish Roots Magazine of Dublin); West Coast Summit on African- American Genealogy; Left Coast Eisteddfod; and various genealogi- cal and lineage societies including the DAR. She was selected to preview Na- tional Geographic's Geno 2.0 test and to participate in an autosomal research study exploring the rea- sons for signifi cant differences in match probabilities between Jew- ish and non-Jewish populations.
