The Tennessee Nu Review Sigma Alpha Epsilon I Vanderbilt University I Spring 2014 Cash Needed by april 1 to seCure Fall Move-iN Alumni Support Essential Now More Than Ever O n behalf of the campaign leadership, I would like to thank everyone who has participated in our effort to reconstruct a top- notch facility for Tennessee Nu. We would not be at this stage in the project without the hard work and dedication of so many alumni, family and friends, and it is gratifying to see many of you step forward with such generous financial support. But Tennessee Nu needs your support now. We engaged in the Campaign for Tennessee Nu: Preserving a Tradition of Excellence and Preserving the Future last year, and we are now facing a financial deadline that will determine whether our youngest members will be able to move into the house in August. If we don't receive $250,000 in cash contributions by April 1, our undergraduate brothers will not be able to move in. If undergraduate members do not move into the house next fall, the house corporation will not receive room and board payments that it had planned on. Therefore, the board will incur additional operational costs that would usually have been defrayed by these payments, including rent, utilities, and grounds upkeep. The need is great and the time is short. But right here and now, your financial resources are what will make the difference in the future of our beloved chapter. You will find a pledge card with this newsletter. Please don't put it aside or throw it away—fill it out now and send it in the enclosed return envelope today. Your support will help us reach the $250,000 mark. If you have made a pledge, consider sending in your 2014 contribution TODAY. If you have yet to support the campaign through a financial contribution, this is the time. Tennessee Nu has never needed your support more than it does right now. For those of you who have yet to give, I hope you can look back on all that has been accomplished so far—from the completion of installing new windows and replacement of the roof to removal of mold. Because of loyal alumni, family, and friends we have been able to do so much. But there is still much work to be done. I encourage you to join the 561 loyal contributors and be a part of this historic time for Tennessee Nu. Gifts of all sizes are appreciated, and I hope you will consider making your pledge or gift today. Phi Alpha, Rob Lowe '91 Tennessee Nu House Corporation President Rob.lowe@cassidyturley.com A dam Kay '09 admits that initially the idea of fraternity was foreign to him when he arrived at Vanderbilt. As he grew to know Greek members on campus, he was drawn to the welcoming atmosphere and the strong friendships that SAE had to offer. "It always amazed me to see the true breadth of connection that SAE members shared across all ages and class ranks. There was no other fraternity on campus that demonstrated the same friendship from seniors down to incoming freshman pledges," Adam said. At Vanderbilt, Adam earned a bachelor's degree in economics, and today he works within the private banking group at Merrill Lynch, where he began as an intern in 2008. He is grateful for the career guidance and feedback from his SAE brothers, whose experience and success in finance and banking led Adam to seek out opportunities in the field. Adam is proud to be a member of an organization with talented leaders. He is very involved with his pledge class and other young alumni who have become successful in their professional endeavors. "Our recent graduates include pilots, engineers, business owners, bankers, attorneys, and aspiring doctors," he said. He seeks to connect this group of professionals with members, who could benefit from their career advice or networking. "We are thrilled to continue our friendship by connecting young members or recent alumni to career advice, summer internships, and even full-time positions within our companies. We have active alumni networks spanning pledge classes and cities that incorporate fantasy football, music festivals, and cross-country travel."
