Tyson St., Quartzsite Love Off ering Pastor Bruce Swart • 928-927-5808 Eight Arizona DPS Highway Patrol offi cers, working in conjunction with a DPS fi xed-wing aircraft and crew, conducted 71 traffi c stops in La Paz County in a 9.5 hour period on February 25th along Interstate 10 and February 26th along State Route 95 north of Parker. Among the 71 traffi c stops, 65 were initiated and directed by the crew aboard the DPS fi xed-wing aircraft. During the traffi c stops, offi cers issued 48 speed citations, 10 hazardous citations, and two child restraint citations. Offi cers arrested one driver for driving un- der the infl uence, and one driver on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. All of the speeders stopped on In- terstate 10 traveled up to 23 mph over the 75 mph posted speed limit. The highest average speed of one of the cited motorists was 98 mph. All of the speeders stopped on State Route 95 were traveling up to 22 mph over the 45 mph posted speed limit. The highest average speed of one of the cited motorists was 67 mph. The traffi c enforcement operation was conducted in an effort to save lives. The Arizona Department of Public Safety is planning more of these targeted traffi c enforce- ment operations in an effort to get motorists to pay more attention to their driving.
