A New Start for Alpha Gamma
W
ith support, assistance, and significant resources from Chi Psi
Fraternity, Alpha Gamma returned to the Ole Miss campus in
January 2013. Utilizing a values-based recruiting approach, the new
colony again established Alpha Gamma as a major player in the Greek
community at Ole Miss. In fact, the recolonization was so successful
that Alpha Gamma was voted to receive its charter at the 172nd Annual
Convention in summer 2013 and has already returned to full Alpha
status with Chi Psi Fraternity.
This new group of men has seen the value in joining Alpha Gamma
even without a home to call their own. They have bought into the same
beliefs and principles that drew us and convinced us Chi Psi was the
right choice for Greek membership years ago. Although the new Alpha
Gamma may be different from what we knew, it is now aided by local
alumni oversight and advisement and is committed to maintaining the
traditions and excellence that we knew in our days spent in Oxford.
We must also recognize the difference in the needs of today's students
versus what we knew from our days on campus. New technology and
systems not present in our time on campus must be accommodated.
Additionally, the University of Mississippi is more academically
challenging than ever, and we must ensure our facility allows students
to succeed while we also compete with new campus residence halls,
luxury apartments, and fraternity homes.
The new Alpha Gamma is a group to be proud of, and one that we
will all be excited to watch grow. We are asking alumni and friends to
make a significant investment that will ensure the long-term success
of Alpha Gamma on the Ole Miss campus. Our vision for the new
Lodge will allow Alpha Gamma to recruit and attract the best men on
campus, but we can be assured the group has already been positioned
for success.
