January 1, 2014 www.DesertMessenger.com letters to the editor Opinions expressed in letters to the editor do not necessarily represent those of the Desert Messenger. WOW! WHAT A RESPONSE! Dear Editor, You would be amazed at the responses to the Free Trailer ad placed in Desert Messenger Dec. 18th. Or maybe not! In one day I received 23 messages. I only wish I had 23 trailers! In the meantime, I would like to say Thank you and God Bless to three people who did kind things for me. Vennie, for taking me to the doctor, despite her hectic schedule. Discount Solar for repairing my panel, gratis. And a fellow from Oklahoma, who I sense would not want his name in print, for giving me a secondhand propane heater, installing it during that week of below freezing temperatures. Thank you! Equestrians visited the watering hole to let their horses drink while riding across the barren desert, this well collected and provided water for desert wildlife in the area YEAR ROUND. Many years ago some vandals desecrated the trough by shooting it full of bullet holes, but the rock, hand made trough still held some water. This windmill was so well known, so popular, well used, liked and familiar to all - that whoever stole it surely wouldn't dare put it up in their yard - as many people would know it, recognize it, and even have pictures of it. So it'll be pretty worthless to them as a yard ornament. Meanwhile it is unknown what the BLM plans to do about the missing windmill. Put up another windmill or just close it up and fill it in? This is another example of people destroying our desert, destroying nature, destroying our history of the area. Then the rest of us lose our rights and privileges to enjoy the open desert. THANKS A LOT NUMB-SKULLED PERSON(S). Beth Praast DO WE NEED SEWER EXPANSION? In spite of the presentation by the park owners to the council on Dec 10th and all the emails from concerned citizens, the town council seems determined to commit the town to a financially overwhelming loan to double the size of the existing sewer treatment plant for a town that shrinks in size with each passing winter.
