The second best time is now." – Proverb (Chinese or African) Happy New Year! I love this proverb: "The Best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." Not that I totally agree with this proverb; maybe the second best time would have been 19 years ago! But, anyhow... If you planted that tree all those years ago, you'd have a beautiful mature tree today. LETTERS TO EDITOR POLICY www.DesertMessenger.com www.MyQuartzsite.com LIKE US on Facebook.com/ DesertMessengerNews research, about 40 to 45 percent of American adults set at least one resolution come New Year's. "The beginning of the year offers a fresh start and a clean slate," according to Nona Jordan, a coach who's known as the "business yogini" and helps female entrepreneurs improve their business. Some research confirms that setting a resolution can get you closer to your goals. One study found that 46 percent of individuals who made resolutions were successful compared to four percent who wanted to achieve a certain goal and considered it but didn't actually create a resolution. Let us resolve to live a good life, a full life, a loving life – a life that is worthy of having said at the end our days, "Yes, I have lived." Let us all resolve to live; to be as happy as we can be; to do as much as we can with what we have, to endure what we must, and to enjoy this gift that we have been given.
