Happy holidays! By DARLENE KOONTZ I hope many of you were able to come downtown and enjoy the Christmas Parade. When I think back to that night, the thing that stands out is all the kids lined up along Main Street with smiles on their faces and both hands waving. Thanks to all the parade entries...you were great. I would also like to thank the Downtown Red Bluff Business Association for partnering with the Chamber on this wonderful community event. The Chamber has been busy. In November we hosted a lunch time presentation on Identity Theft and what you should do to avoid this happening to you. We also partnered with St Elizabeth Hospital to bring information to the community about your options under the new Healthcare Act. I hope you all had a good time last night at "Good Morning, Red Bluff — in the Evening — Ugly Christmas Sweater Mixer at the Palomino Room. There are definatly some ugly Christmas sweaters for the contests, thanks to the many who brought toys for Christmas for a Cause. It was great time to unwind, take a break, and visit before the rush of the Christmas Season. It's the time of year where our thoughts are floating all around, a time for reflection and a busy time to run in many directions. We spend time with family and friends and celebrate the many things we are grateful for. One of the things I am grateful for is to spend this year as your Chamber Chairwoman. I have 25 years in the tourism and visitor services business, and have worked with chambers and communities in 8 states. What I have experienced is chambers are the first line or foundation for tourism in the community. It's the first place many of us go to learn about a community. If I don't see you over the holi- days, I will see you in the New Year. The cold temperatures made it feel a lot like Christmas, and those who braved the cold enjoyed a day filled with holiday cheer. Many enjoyed the great pancake breakfast put on by the Corning Volunteer Fire Department and Knights of Columbus. Lots of people did their holiday shopping at the variety of vendor booths and enjoyed free rides on the horse drawn carriage up and down Solano Street. Santa arrived on a fire truck in the afternoon and kids got their picture taken with Santa. There were art exhibits by local artists at Edward Jones and the highs school art student's work at H&R Block. At the end of the day, many came out to watch the Lighted Parade and stayed for the Tree Lighting, where Santa lit up the City Christmas Tree. Congratulations to the winners of the Lighted Parade.
