E
ighty young men of Michigan State officially became a phoenix
chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon on November 16, 2013. The event was
presided over by Eminent Supreme Archon Brad Cohen, Arizona Alpha
'85, and Eminent Supreme Recorder Blaine "Boomer" Ayers, Kentucky
Epsilon '01. Also in attendance were SAE Financial & Housing Corporation
board members Lee Miller, Ohio Sigma '62, and Mike Rodgers, Virginia
Kappa '92. Numerous SAE staff members were in attendance including
Ryan Tolle, Georgia Omega '09, Russell Best, Ohio Epsilon '09, Thomas
Brigman, North Carolina Epsilon '11, Phil Holst, Iowa Beta '97, and
fellow Michigan Gamma alumnus Gregory Somers '98. The Detroit Area
Alumni Association was represented by Joe Drompp, Arkansas Beta '72,
and Province Omega was represented by Province Archon and fellow
Michigan Gamma alumnus Brett Polen '10. The Michigan Gamma alumni
advisory board was represented by Chase Winsman '00 and Charlie
Breneman, Ohio Gamma '67. The chapter advisor Ben Baxter, Florida
Beta '12, was also present for the event.

The Michigan Gamma alumni association would like to give a special
thanks to past Eminent Archon Bryce Traverse '14, current Eminent
Archon Jeffrey La Hood '14, Alumni Relations Chairman Austin
Essenburg '15, and Eminent Deputy Archon Jack Toohey '15 for all they
have done to get the colony to the point of chartering. More than 25 percent
of the chapter has attended the John O. Moseley Leadership School thanks
to the generous donations from fellow Michigan Gamma alumni. This is
just the beginning for this chapter and they've set a goal of becoming a Zeal
nominee and winning Chapter of the Year very shortly.
