Bob Nice '82 was able to make that tough decision after meeting the Chapter advisor and playing basketball with the members of Pi Kappa Alpha. "I was invited over to the house to play basketball and received a bid the next day. I knew this fraternity focused on athletics and I wanted to a part of it. We won the tournament three of the four years I was there." As an active member, Bob served as president of his pledge class and IMC. "Walking on campus and seeing the garnet and gold, knowing that was a Pike, always filled me with great pride to be a member. We had a strong house and were leaders in organizations across campus, in athletics, and philanthropy." His pride in the Chapter has only grown since graduating. "The current Chapter is filled with a fabulous group of young men. I am very pleased to see their success in athletics, academics, Grand Prix, and campus involvement. My expectations are high for the Chapter's continued success." Bob has stayed involved with the Chapter, serving as the president of the Pi Kappa Alpha Home Association. for the past four years. He has overseen renovations to the first floor study rooms, Pike room, basement, and second floor brothers' lounge. "The house demands respect when students and parents enter, and they enjoy coming back to something new and better each year. One of my proudest accomplishments has been adding the fraternity name across the front of the house so anyone who drives by knows which fraternity resides there." He has also been active in the capital investment planning for the Chapter and has helped get it to the best financial position it has been in more than 20 years.  His involvement with the Chapter is what prompted his support of the Honoring Our Legacy, Securing Our Future campaign. "As president of the board I'm routinely at Purdue and interact with the undergraduates. I know what great experiences I had and I want to give that back. The fraternity fosters leadership, networking, and other trades that will lead to future success, but you also have to have a physical location and that takes money to maintain and update. We've done a lot of updates, but there is still work to be done. Adding niceties like updating the kitchen, main living room, and external landscaping will give Beta Phi that extra edge in the competitive campus housing environment." Bob encourages everyone to get involved to make the campaign a success. "Little dollars add up to a great deal, and with the option to spread your gifts out over five years that makes (Continued on page 6)
