DDD DDD DDD DDD DDD DDD DDD DDD Alumnae News In Memoriam Helen Humphrey Bruner '42 passed away on Friday, March 8, 2013. She was born in St. Louis, Mo., and graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in journalism. Helen was an employee of Memphis Publishing Co. where she met her husband, Joe. Joan K. Leslie '46 passed away August 18, 2013. Barbara Barnes Noll '46 passed away June 5, 2013. Clotilda Brewington Gawienowski '47 passed away February 9, 2013 at the Center for Extended Care at Amherst, Mass. She came to Amherst in 1963 and helped maintain the Library at the Newman Catholic Center for 30 years. Clo was a substitute teacher at local schools and worked elections at North Amherst polling places for most of 40 years. Sharon Roderick Vaughn '54 passed away October 11, 2013. She has two Tri Delta daughters: Melissa Vaughn Anthony '80 and Lynn Vaughn Harman '83. Sandra Morris Russell '60 passed away July 5, 2013. She and Bob, her husband of nearly 50 years, resided in Warrensburg. With her ice blue eyes and movie‑star smile, it's no stretch to imagine that in her youth, Sandy was a true beauty queen. A model in Kansas City, she was princess of the 1957 Kansas City Auto Show and as a Tri Delta at the University of Missouri was named one of Glamour Magazine's Top Ten Best Dressed Women in 1962. Much more than just a pretty face, Sandy had a fine mind and believed that women could achieve anything. Gail Ferfecky Heil Bovee '65 passed away May 30, 2013. Gail, originally from St. Louis, was a musician who cherished, taught and performed traditional American old‑time country music and dance, becoming well‑known and respected nation-wide for her performances and recordings. Gail played fiddle, guitar, banjo and sang with her husband and musical partner, Bob Bovee. Together they traveled the country to play at festivals, fairs, schools, workshops and countless venues that presented old time music, a precursor to Bluegrass. Alumnae Update Loleta Carpenter Scott '52 and her husband, Bob, are celebrating their 80th birthdays and 58 years together with a trip to Italy and France. Loleta also celebrated her 80th by doing a perfect headstand thanks to her years of yoga. E‑mail: noelsylvia19@yahoo.com Patricia Wilson Knutson '55 published her first novel, Shelter of Lies, in May 2012; her second novel, Mountain Blood, was published in late 2012, and her third novel, Fatal Game, was released in October 2013. All are available at major online book stores in hard cover or as an e-book. She says, "This is truly a dream come true for me. I have heard from so many Tri Delta sisters all over the country who have contacted me after reading my books. Who says you can't have a new career in your seventies!" The couple resides in Eureka, Mo., they have vineyards and make wine on the farm, grow organic produce and have intermittent farm dinners. Her daughter, Tracy Strother Jones '02, is completing her first year of pediatric residency at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. and has recently married. The family has been living in Sweden for 19 years. She loves working with marketing and communication, where she is using her degree in journalism, magazine design, and production. She keeps in touch with Sandy Vilmer '76, Cindy Vilmer Harvel '76, Chris Cavanaugh Nienhuis '76, Carolyn Spencer Overfelt '77 and Susan Downey '77; they try to get together whenever she is in the United States. Amy Rejba Hoffmann '94 and her husband, Dr. Marc Hoffmann, are in Houston, Texas, where Marc is completing a fellowship in oncology at MD Anderson. After working as a nurse practitioner since 2000, Amy is currently staying at home with their 18-month-old son, Miles. She and her husband, Sean, had their first child, John "Woods" Henneberger, last November. She teaches a social skills program for students with high functioning autism. Leslie travels with her boyfriend, Ray, who is a minor league in-fielder for the Cincinnati Reds Triple A team, the Louisville Bats. She enjoys watching the games and getting to know other girlfriends and wives.
