Epsilon Omicron (Continued from page 1) well beyond the all-student average and the highest fraternity GPA on 28th Street. Our 37th annual Christmas trees sale will be held in December. This tradition will be better than ever with the addition of gift collections to be donated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital to complement the Christmas tree proceeds. Starting on December 2, Sigma Nu will focus on celebrating the holiday season with a philanthropic mindset. Sigma Nu always strives to be very involved outside the Greek system. Our very own Matt Deligio '10, EO 1731, successfully became the USC drum major, also known as Tommy Trojan. As always, we are also extremely involved in intramurals. The basketball, indoor soccer, and flag football teams will return with key players and appear to be favored to make the playoffs. A combination of veteran players with fresh talent will make Sigma Nu's intramurals competitive. The Sigma Nu plaque banquet last April had the largest turnout in recent history, with more than 160 brothers in attendance. A fantastic dinner and a guest speaker, JK McKay Jr., made the night one to remember. Our alumni chairman and Holding Corporation have been working together to improve communicating to all alumni and reconnect them to Sigma Nu. The future looks bright for the Chapter. Fraternally, Tom Sears '11, EO 1666 Chapter President tsears@usc.edu Alumni News Richard E. Oswald II '76, EO 831, has been a mentor in the USC Marshall School CAP Mentoring program since 2001, while also serving as the vice president of the board of directors for the Sigma Nu Holding Corporation as well as an advisor to the Trojan Knights. Last year, he and his business partner were guest lecturers in a real estate finance class in the School of Policy, Planning, and Development at USC. Recently, Richard was bestowed the gracious honor of being elected to the USC Board of Governors and just received the USC Widney Alumni House Volunteer Award. Richard lives in Manhattan Beach. E-mail: rich@turnstone.com Mark Garavaglia '78, EO 862, after graduating in 1981, headed to law school in New Orleans and then Melbourne, Australia. He then practiced law for several years in private practice. In 1991, Mark became the general counsel for Rotary International and stayed at this NGO in different capacities for almost 19 years. During this time, he felt led to return to divinity school on a part-time, long-term basis. "I think I studied through the Clinton, Bush II, and Obama Administrations, and even took a class during Bush I." He married his wife, Alicia, in 2009. The following year, they had their first child, Henry. It was during this time that he was approached to move to Amsterdam and serve at Tyndale Seminary as president. Tyndale is a missionary school (led and taught by full-time missionaries) that trains pastors, Bible teachers, and missionaries from all corners of the globe. Last year, they had students from 23 countries. Shortly after their arrival in July 2012, they were blessed with their second child, Michaela. "We would love to see brothers if they visit or are going through Amsterdam. We live 15 minutes from the front door of Schiphol (Amsterdam) Airport. Also, for brothers in the L.A. area, I hope to be out there in mid-November for business. It would be great to see as many of you as possible." James "Chip" Stuart '83, EO 898, married fellow trojan Jill Bowen. Chip has stayed involved with the university by serving on the alumni association board of governors, and has served 14 years on the board of counselors for USC athletics. He served Epsilon Omicron for 15 years, as well as Epsilon Pi Chapter at UCLA. Chip lives in Pacific Palisades.
