The actives moved into the new Chapter House—completely renovated on the inside and many improvements on the outside—on August 14; they are thrilled with the new facility. Improvements to the house: • New wiring, plumbing and an asbestos-free house • Reconfigured rooms and added space in the area above Mom Roberts' carport • New kitchen cabinets • The two south rooms in the basement have been joined together to create a large allpurpose room • New roof • New windows throughout the entire house • The landscape has been completely replaced, along with the sod • A new basketball court • A new entry into the living room from the basketball court • An eight-foot fence is scheduled to be installed around the south and west sides of the basketball court • The house is now handicapped-accessible (required) with a suite designed for members with disabilities • Additional space was available when the north stairway was removed, allowing the washer/dryer room to accommodate four new washers and five new dryers • The second and third floors were reconfigured and all new furniture has been purchased • The dining room has new tables and chairs • The living rooms have the same furniture; however, the furniture has been restored The cost of our renovation totals $3 million. The loan amount is $2.6 million. Total pledges written from the Lambda Chi brothers is $l,420,064. Unfortunately, participation is under 15%. We tremendously appreciate the brothers who have committed to help pay for the new house. In addition, there were many who recognized the need and increased their original pledge amount. We desperately need others to join this campaign. The house is beautifully completed, but we have a large monthly loan payment. Currently, the active brothers are carrying the load on this project. They pledged $190,000 and are paying $l9,000 per semester for five years. Many of you have shared how Lambda Chi influenced your life, how appreciative you are of the opportunity to be a part of the fraternity, and talked of the lifelong friends that were made. Let's join together to provide that same experience for young men today and for years to come. A cookout for the members and their parents, along with recruits and their parents, was held August 16. There were many compliments on the house. Hopefully, with the updated structure, there will be many young men interested in joining Lambda Chi and living in the new environment. Included in the Gamma Rover you will find a capital campaign pledge form and return envelope. Please note the left side of the pledge form is for non-tax-deductible donations of any size and the right side of the pledge form is taxdeductible gifts totaling $10,000 or more. Please note the "Make Checks Payable To" at the bottom of each side, so that your check is made payable to the correct account. We ask that you make a one-time donation or a pledge over a five-year period. Donors who make a gift of $2,500 or more will be recognized on a prominently displayed plaque in the Chapter House. Take a look at our donor list on pages 2-3 to decide on which giving level you want your name to appear. Mom Carol Roberts has served the Chapter for more than 20 years. The Carol Roberts Society requires a gift of $1,000 or more; gifts can be paid upfront or in $200 installments for five years. These donors will also be included in campaign materials and on a plaque displayed in the new Chapter House. Also, be sure to save the date for Saturday, October 26, and join us for the grand reopening of the Lambda Chi Alpha Chapter House. We look forward to seeing you there! In Z.A.X., Don N. Sherman, GR 374 Campaign Co-Chairman Raj K. Patel, GR 1120 Campaign Co-Chairman James R. Jones, GR 490 Honorary Campaign Chairman
