Our first cold blast of the upcoming Winter season arrives a little early this year. By Friday morning, a very strong cold front will come barrelling through the Southeast, as a strong storm runs up the East Coast. This front means business and has air straight from the Arctic regions. Rainfall in the mountains will quickly turn over to snow by Friday morning, and our area will clear out during the day Friday. The winds will be a big factor, with strong high pressure pouring in, the atmosphere will undergo what’s called “mixing”, which means the pressure is trying to equalize throughout the region, which always results in high winds...so keep a tight grip in your hat Friday after- noon! The good news is this is a quick hitter, and by next week we’ll be enjoying tranquil, fall-like weather again with a warming trend.
