The Husker Sig SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA Homecoming 2013 October 5 Greater Nebraska Area Alumni Chapter lways a special time of year, this year's Homecoming welcomes the new as we say goodbye to the past. No more K-State, Oklahoma State, Colorado Homecomings in our new world! Hard as it is to accept, we are now living in the world of Badgers, Wolverines, and Wildcats. Speaking of which, what the heck is an Illini? P.O. Box 95141 A Lincoln, NE 68509-5141 Address Service Requested No matter. It still is about world-class college football with the Huskers and this year is no exception. Make plans to attend our Sigma Chi Homecoming events on Saturday, October 5, against Illinois. Let's start this Big Ten Homecoming thing right by demolishing the guys from Champagne. The reception will be held at the U.S. Bank Building at 2:30 p.m. Come visit with old Sig friends and meet our undergraduates. E-mail Curt Denker '77, president of the Greater Nebraska Area Alumni Chapter, for more details or to indicate your attendance. His e-mail address is cdenker@pinnbank. com. Reservations are not required, but we'd love to know in advance if you plan to attend! ATTENTION: This newsletter is intended for alumni and parents. If your son is still attending the University of Nebraska, he will receive a copy at the Chapter House. If he has graduated, please send us his permanent address. Thank you. GO BIG RED! Sigs of the '60s Reunion T here is undoubtedly something special that holds these guys together. The Sigs of the '60s were instrumental, to be sure, in the record-setting capital campaign. Somehow they manage to find one another, stick together, and create the time and place to reunite. This year, as The Husker Sig goes to press, they are in the throes of planning a reunion and celebration of the successful capital campaign. The reunion will take place the weekend of September 13 and 14, when the Huskers host UCLA at the newly expanded Memorial Stadium. The weekend will draw Sigs who lived at 1510 Vine Street in the 1960s from all over the United States. Brothers from as far away as Maine, South Carolina, and California will be in Lincoln to celebrate the successful capital campaign and to rendezvous for yet another time. The golf outing in Lincoln on Friday, September 13, sets the table for the reunion. An informal reception follows at the Wilderness Ridge Club. After the 11 a.m. CST game with UCLA on Saturday, September 14, there will be a Victory Celebration (C'mon Bo!) and Capital Campaign Dedication Ceremony at the Chapter House. Later that evening, there will be a dinner at the Wilderness Ridge Club. True to their stubborn persistence, these guys expect at least 70—maybe as many as 80—people at the dinner event. A special invitation has been made to our new Grand Consul, Mike Greenberg, Illinois Wesleyan '82, to attend. Mike has been an inspiring advocate for us as we have pushed back against the unduly severe sanctions against the fraternity by the UNL administration.
