7 Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Silent Chapter Helen Gibler Montgomery Jenkins '32, Winter Park, Fla., entered the Silent Chapter March 12, 2013, just shy of her 100th birthday. Blanche Boyd Wolpers '35 entered the Silent Chapter on May 4, 2013. She was a newspaperwoman and community leader. In college, she was a member of Theta Sigma Phi honorary fraternity for women in journalism and was a sharpshooter on MU's rifle team. In 1941, she married Robert M. Wolpers and moved to Poplar Bluff, Mo., where she joined his family's newspaper, the Daily American Republic. In 1986, Governor John Ashcroft awarded her the highest honor in the state for the arts, the Missouri Arts Award. In 1990 she was nominated for the MU Alumni Association Faculty/Alumni Award. Blanche's sister-in-law was Mary Carr Boyd '41, who is a past International President of AF. Rose Daily Moss '37 entered the Silent Chapter March 17, 2013, at age 95. She taught high school English in Albany, Mo., and later worked at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. In, 1945, Rose married her husband, William, in Kansas City, Mo., and they had six children. Alumnae Update Mary Koppenbrink Clement '44, at 88 years old, still lives at home by herself, even though she gave up driving a year ago. Her daughter, Mary Susan, is a professional puppeteer. Mary's other daughter lives only a half mile away and they go many places together. Jean Brannum Nichols '47 saw her granddaughter get married on May 26, 2012. Jean's grandson works in music technologies in Los Angeles. Her other grandsons are at the University of South Carolina and Purdue. Jean lives in an assisted living facility in Waynesboro, Va. Alumnae News Mary Storrs Pittman '49, after living in California for 60 years, moved to a wonderful retirement residence in Colorado. At age 84, she still plays 18 holes of golf and also sings in a church choir. Ellen "Jane" Rutter Smith '51 and her husband moved back to Columbia after being away for 50 years to take care of her 106-year-old mother. She says, "The Alpha Phi house looks beautiful and is the prettiest one on campus." Ellen gets together with Omicron alumnae whenever they are in the area. Melissa Ferguson Wittenborn '76 says both of her kids are officially "launched." She is growing her speaking business and has started with a new skin care business called Nerium Intl. Her other daughter, Katie, teaches third grade at Mission Trail Elementary, where she attended as a child. Her son, Andrew, is a junior at Kansas State University majoring in family studies. Her husband, Joe, is the admission director at Rose Estates, an assisted living community. They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in May. Jayne says, "We really pulled for Mizzou, but you know those Texans!" E-mail: kastenc@sbcglobal.net Judith Bailey Miller '59 has a new family member, Bonnie, a Kerry Blue Terrier puppy. She and her husband, Glen, are having a ball at the puppy training classes. Judy and Glen are rock hounds and Bonnie is in training to be one too. Judy buys and sells vintage costume jewelry. E-mail: irislady@sbcglobal.net Jane Sullivan Eubank '66 says the highlight of 2013, so far, was being called by the Live with Kelly & Michael television show and winning the travel trivia for a trip to the Tanque Verde Ranch in Tucson, Ariz., for a week. She lives in Murfreesboro, Tenn. E-mail: eubankjane@gmail.com Gigi Sohns Gill '67 completed her year as chaplain for the Ladies Auxiliary VFW in the state of Missouri and became Senior Vice President at their June 2013 convention. She is traveling a lot for the auxiliary to "nearly every corner of Missouri and several other states throughout the country. I love traveling!" The chapter took a landmark pledge class of 54 new members that year. Ragan Schmiedeskamp Webb '95 was named Elementary Science Teacher of the Year by Science Teachers of Missouri. She was a finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math & Science teaching. She and her husband, Andrew, live in Columbia, Mo. Elizabeth McBride Shockey '97 and her husband, Jeff, were married on June 30, 2012. They live on Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska. Lynn Schottel Hudson '69 retired in April 2013, and, after more than 40 years of work, is looking forward to this new chapter in her life. She lives in St. Joseph, Mo. Jackie lives in North Miami. Joni Wellhausen Klemp '75 works in case management at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Upon retiring after 32 years as an airline flight attendant, Joni went back to school to become a nurse. She earned her LPN, RN, BSN, and MSN. She is looking forward to earning her certification in case management. Kristen Zap '01 and her husband, Brad, a Mizzou SAE, were married in September 2012. The couple lives in St. Charles, Mo.
