S 1, 2010 LETTERS FROM PAGE 4 This new employee (backed up by owner) took us to court to throw us out. This owner and manager lost their case, but my father and I are done! My father died in July this year, but this town still is the best place to live. Let’s all stop being angry, never bigoted and mean! “WE’VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE!” My son and I moved here just 5 months ago from Indiana, where the police never helped anyone and there are shootings all the time. Now we really feel safe here in Quartzsite! When the power went out on Wednesday, Aug. 23rd, the Quartzsite Police Dept. and Fire Dept. helped out so much I just had to tell someone. They came to our RV park and checked on everyone to see if we were all ok. I’m on insulin and was worried, because it can’t get hot. They told us about the dry ice being given out at the Shell Station. One of the police officers had us follow him to the police station and gave us a bag of ice to keep the insulin cool. We’ve never seen this before! We really appreciate what they have done for us. We’ve never met people so friendly! Everybody waves and says hi to each other! Thank you to the Quartzsite Fire Dept. Ambulance, and Police Dept. Audrey Dillon & son, Myron Joe Ketcherside, Quartzsite .DM. CAREFUL RELUCTANCE Surprisingly there wasn’t a huge turnout for the Public Ad Hoc Ethics Committee Meeting last Monday, August 23rd, 2010 at 4 PM. Most notably missing was the Mayor himself. Ed Foster asked that the Meeting be public and wanted time to discuss things with his attorney, yet he did not appear. He was invited to several different meetings and refused to appear. This meeting was finally held by Jose Lizzaraga and Bob Kelley, the 2 senior Council Members, and chaired by Barbara Cowell, the Vice Mayor. They met on the validity of lax Mayoral duties and improper ethics and procedures by the Town Mayor, Ed Foster. The subject matter was filed into a binder at least 3 inches thick and covers issues and factual evidence brought up by the Town Council, the Town Manager, the Chief of Police, and other State Agencies. The meeting will continue and finalize Monday, August 30th. With “Careful Reluctance”, the Ad Hoc Ethics Committee has a very difficult task to clean up the Town Council on any possibility of improper actions or lack thereof. It is never easy to pick out one of your own to do such a thing. The above parties took on the responsibility to review questionable/improper behaviors Want a little? Place an order. Want a lot? One pointed piece heard over and over was a total arrogance of misusing the title, “Mayor”. It was apparent he misused the title on letters and articles to get personal attention when there was no true representation of the entire Town Council, Town Management AND all of the Townspeople of Quartzsite in those matters. Does Foster have a hidden agenda to discredit Quartzsite and cause its UN-incorporation? I commend the Town Council, in particular the Ad Hoc Ethics Committee, for doing a most difficult but needed task.
