S 1, 2010 QUARTZSITE-Proud Neighbors of Quartzsite (PNQ) is seeking artists to create public artwork in this year’s “Rockin’ in Quartzsite!” A Celebration of the Arts! Are you a talented, emerging, mid- level, or professional artist looking for a new challenge? Here’s your chance to paint a “Rock Art Piece”! Quartzsite is the Rock Capital of the World! What fun to paint one of 15 Rock Art Pieces for visitors and residents alike to enjoy for the winter season. WHAT: A public art event which allows artists, sponsors, business- es, schools, merchants, seniors, social groups, and individuals to work together toward enriching our community. Rock Art Pieces will be sponsored by local businesses, corporations and private citizens. Rock Art will be painted and decorat- ed by local and regional artists. Displayed in creative places through- out the Town of Quartzsite. WHO: Proceeds from the events will benefit local non-profit organizations through PNQ’s Volunteer Equity Program. Locals and visitors alike will find them- selves looking for the Rock Art through- out town, using a “Rockin’ in Quartz- site!” map to guide them all over town. WHY should I be a Sponsor?  For four months of widespread pub- licity throughout Arizona and beyond.  Because hundreds of thousands of people are expected to visit Quartzsite this season; your name and the artist’s name will be on your sponsored Rock Art.Local businesses can expect to see increased sales during this four month period. In Belfast, Maine, a town of 6,500 residents, businesses showed a 28% increase during their first similar public art display.  For the satisfaction of supporting lo- cal artists and organizations.  Joy of bringing people together for the benefit of the community.
