SigEp experiences to
his work today as a state
senator in Virginia, Mark
Peake '85 has developed
a strong understanding
of what it means to be
a leader. Mark is proud to retain fraternal
bonds while balancing lawyer and state
leadership responsibilities.
PERSONAL GROWTH
He was already familiar with SigEp through a
legacy connection with his brother, and Mark
made the most of his experience by serving
as corresponding secretary.
Mark cannot overstate SigEp's impact on his
life. Alongside social connections maintained
through reunions and football tailgates,
Mark is regularly reminded of the Fraternity's
ability to develop bright young men. "SigEp
teaches you how to behave and get along
with others in a great structure. It was
obviously the best Fraternity on campus."
BALANCING LAW AND STATE
Beyond Virginia Tech, Mark attended law
school and has worked as a lawyer in
Lynchburg since 1990. His professional
development through SigEp helped Mark
learn how to balance full-time law work with
his part-time state senator position.
"The state senate takes a lot of time,
especially going to meet with constituents.
We're in session two months a year, so I'm
away from my law practice. I end up doing a
lot on the weekends for my practice, but
I'm able to work around it with the help of
my partners."
In his personal time, Mark enjoys spending
time with his wife and five children. He
also makes time for a yearly golf trip with
Fraternity brothers.
