House Upgrades Brothers are filled with enthusiasm and gratitude for the extensive house renovations completed over the summer. The second floor has undergone a remarkable transformation, exuding a fresh and rejuvenated appearance. Renovations encompassed everything from the flooring and new paint jobs to revamped closets, shelving, and lighting. Bathrooms received updated stalls, mirrors, and countertops, further enhancing our living space. This year, we're delighted to have all 30 stateside juniors residing in the house (three are studying abroad). With 83 members residing in the house, morale is at an all-time high. Campus Leadership This year, FIJI played a pivotal role in establishing the Kansas Fraternity Leadership Council, an alliance of six prominent Fraternities at KU. So far, we've successfully organized a philanthropic food drive event with the participation of freshman Brothers from all six houses. We've also initiated biweekly meetings where house representatives collaborate, sharing ideas and discussing effective strategies. Please visit our website, kansasflc.com, for more information and monthly updates. Pig Dinner 2023 We were excited to host our recent Pig Dinner at the Horshji Center on November 17 th , featuring an exclusive tour of Allen Fieldhouse! We appreciate everyone who attended and look forward to seeing more faces at future FIJI events. Fraternally, Shawn McClaren '25 Chapter President Perge! FIJI Jayhawker 2 Early Involvement We're delighted to report that our freshman Brothers are already participating in various crucial committees spanning recruitment, scholarship, philanthropy, social activities, Jayhawker initiatives, Pig Dinner preparations, and social media outreach. Fifteen are from out of state, including Colorado, Wisconsin, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Our comprehensive freshman onboarding program, "Built to Lead," is operating with remarkable efficiency yet again. We've provided invaluable guidance to our newcomers, offering a résumé workshop and the skills to create LinkedIn profiles. Moreover, we've conducted seminars on formal attire and dining etiquette, with plans for a financial literacy class soon. A special note of gratitude extends to Brother Kevin Mitchelson '79 for gracing our Chapter House with a captivating Pi Deuteron history lesson. Community Outreach From a philanthropic perspective, we've already orchestrated two successful events. Our annual car wash fundraiser for Watts of Love was followed by an exciting hot dog eating contest at the Chapter House, featuring participation from Phi Delta Theta, Beta Theta Pi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Phi Kappa Psi, and Delta Tau Delta. Brother Eric LaSala '25 (left) and Jack Lowden '25 celebrate Halloween in Madrid, Spain, while studying abroad this fall. From left: Nick Marcrander '25, Spencer Schade '25, Zach Fetrow '27, and Wes Dwyer '27 gather for a picture before competing at our hot dog eating contest. Hundreds gather at FIJI as seven Fraternities compete in our hot dog eating contest. This event raised more than $2,500 for the Lawrence Memorial Health Foundation! We appreciate everyone coming out to this event. PI DEUTERON'S RECENT EVENTS MEMBERSHIP GROWTH AND CAMPUS ENGAGEMENT At the onset of this year, Pi Deuteron proudly initiated 29 new Brothers. The incoming class has exhibited remarkable promise with an impressive collective GPA of 3.45 and an eagerness to actively engage in our Fraternity.
